One of the things I love most about my job is that, with every photo shoot, I get to witness and capture something beautiful. It could be a moment of joy frozen in time, it could be the light hitting just right, it could be a stunning outdoor location tucked away in an unsuspecting urban neighborhood or, in this case, it could be all those things at once.
This maternity session felt so good to shoot and so it seemed like a great one to feature. I met up with this sweet couple at a local nature park in Costa Mesa back in the Spring. I remember it was little extra hot that day and it was also Mother’s Day weekend (Stephanie was so sweet and brought me flowers) and there were lots of other folks out there taking photos. But, despite all that, we wandered around and found some quiet, shady spots to slow down, tune all of that out and soak in that special moment before they welcomed their first child into the world.
When I look at these photos now, I am reminded that beauty is sometimes raw and imperfect and sometimes it’s flawless and ethereal and everything. Regardless, I am a sucker for both.
