I had the great pleasure of photographing Astrid and Randy’s wedding at the historic Union Hotel in Los Alamos, CA in early October and I really want to share the photos here on the blog. Before I do, I thought I better first share our equally awesome, cinema-inspired engagement session. They wanted their photos to be a little different from most engagement sessions and suggested doing something with a vintage feel to tie in the Old West vibes of their wedding venue. I’m all for stretching my creative muscles!
We chose Paramount Ranch as our location and got there early enough in the morning that we were practically the only ones there, which was great. It was such a perfect spot for the concept we were going for and Randy and Astrid’s wardrobe and vintage suitcase worked so nicely. As I was shooting, I couldn’t help but be inspired by some of my favorite classic movies… a little “Hud” mixed with “The Last Picture Show” and a hint of “The Misfits.” In the end, I think we succeeded in balancing my candid, relaxed shooting style with something a little unique and creative. And, I really love the result which, hopefully, will go down as a timeless classic!
